Trillium Lake and Mt Hood
by jim on Jan.21, 2009, under Lakes, Mountains
Taken from the area around the boat launch at Trillium Lake, this view of Mt Hood has always been one of my favorites.
Take US 26 East from Portland and after Government Camp, look for the signs to Trillium Lake. This view is a very short walk from parking, 100 feet or so.
You can see the area in a Google map here. Zoom out to see Mt Hood to the North of the lake.

Three Creeks Lake
by jim on Jan.21, 2009, under Lakes
Three Creeks Lake is framed in by the Tam MacArthur Rim. You can see it here as a stone “wall” in the background. If you are up for a hike, the views at the top are breathtaking. If you continue to the area around Broken Hand, you will be able to face one way and see the South and Middle Sisters, turn around and see Mt Bachelor. WOW.
From Sisters take South Elm St, it turns into 3 Creeks Road outside of town. Follow it to the end of the road when you see a view like this. At the end, the road turns to dirt and can be a little rough, but most cars will make it without any problems.

Sparks Lake with South Sister
by jim on Jan.21, 2009, under Lakes, Mountains
Sparks Lake sits between Mt Bachelor and the South Sister. Great views any way you look.
Just follow the signs in Bend to Mt Bachelor taking you down Century Drive and then the Cascades Lakes Highway. Just after the Mt Bachelor ski resort you will see the signs for the lake. Well worth the trip!
There is a Google map of the area here.

Mt Hood from Lost Lake

Mt Hood from Lost Lake. A classic Oregon view. There are a lot of areas on the North side of the lake looking south to the mountain. Just find a spot a take a photograph like this.
You can see the area in a Google Map view here.

Tumalo Reservoir and Three Sisters
by Jim on Dec.29, 2006, under Lakes
I was driving back from Central Oregon one evening, and saw the sunset colors coming. I grabbed my map and found what I hoped would be a nice view. Leaving Hwy 20 North of Bend and heading West, the end of Tumalo Reservoir Road basically puts you here. I pulled off to the right a took this photograph.
I heard that the reservoir is used as the water supply for the city of Bend and the recreation on the lake is prohibited.
You can see a Google Map image of the are here.

Mountain and valley lakes, clear lakes and perhaps a frozen one or two.
