The Pinnacles located in Wheeler Creek Canyon in Crater Lake National Park were created when the canyon walls were eroded by the stream and wind.

Birds from Summer Lake. Summer Lake is on the ‘Oregon Outback National Scenic Byway’ that runs from the Hwy-97 and Hwy-31 junction near LaPine to the California border. The Highway is 171 miles of natural, scenic, and archaeological features.

I don’t have the exact location, but once you are in the area, you will see this view.  You can see the area in a Google Map here.

I think that these animals are Desert Mountain Sheep.  There are photographs of some at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center and these look like the animals in the photographs.  If these are not Desert Mountain Sheep, please let me know and I will update the information on this page.

We saw them crossing the Hwy-140 East of Lakeview in Central Oregon.  They traveled in a small herd of about eight animals.
